Leroy Merlin - Sicilian storyteller event

Client: Leroy Merlin
Why: Leroy Merlin chose Sicily as its destination for its annual “Festa del Bricolage” convention: the best 6 teams from all over Italy had to be awarded for the marvelous work done during 2009.
When:November, 20-21th 2009
Where: Taormina, Castelmola and il Russott Hotel – Giardini Naxos (ME)
What: The goals of this event were clear, but not that easy to accomplish: the event was intended to be motivational, rewarding and inspiring at the same time. Together with Leroy Merlin’s project manager, we decided to add an intense theme and design the entire event from scratch, coordinating everything with the chosen hotel and DMC...
How: We decided Sicily itself to be the main theme of the event, so we choose an enthralling Sicilian Storyteller as the host of the entire event.Leroy Merlin
Talking in rhyme, the Storyteller had the duty to introduce Sicily, its history and beauties, and all of the scheduled activities.

He made his first appearance during the welcome drink, supported by traditional hand-made paintings illustrating his words, narrating 4000 years of Sicilian history in about 120 seconds, and then reminding the following appointments.

Next day, in the morning, the group went to Taormina and Castelmola, where the Storyteller himself introduced our Invisible Cities format, especially customized according both to the theme and the client. While discovering monuments, curiosities and local legends, the participants, divided in teams, had to uncover the secret side of an entire city, unveiling unknown details and enlightening undervalued places.

But we also had to reward the teams that had the best performances in the company, so, in the evening, we collected them and, helped by professional cameramen and movie directors, we had them act in strongly ironical short-movies that would have been screened on that same night gala-dinner. 6 movies were shot in just an hour, and then edited by our staff so to be ready for screening just in time for dinner.

Finally, the gala-dinner began, blending together the most modern performances with the typical Sicilian tradition! An opera singer, a live trio, a dancer in a giant bubble and a 15-elements folk group enthralled the participants, before the disco and the unavoidable farewell, surrounded by roaring applauses.
